Saline cosmetic tattoo removal/lightening is a non-laser tattoo removal method that uses a saline solution to fade or remove unwanted cosmetic tattoos. This technique is also known as saline tattoo removal, saline tattoo lightening, or saline tattoo extraction.

Up to 48 hours after a client had a procedure elsewhere, a soak with Li-FT can be done. 

Once the skin is wounded(tattooed), we have a short period of time before the epidermal crust is fully formed. Until that epidermal crust is fully formed, the area will accept and absorb the Li-FT solution. It is best if the procedure is no more than 48 hours old. You may have some success up to 72 hours, but experience proves up to 48 hours will bring the best lightening and lifting results. How many sessions it will take to lighten any one procedure will depend on many different variables including but not limited to; aftercare, saturation, how deep the work is, whether the client has oily skin, how many layers of pigment and placement of the tattoo. It’s impossible to predict how many sessions a client will need. Although many times we achieve amazing results in just2 to 3 sessions, it is not uncommon for certain procedures to take up to 6 sessions to reach the desired lightening result. Even if a certain case takes 6 sessions to reach the lightening result that we want, that is often faster than laser or similar. Results vary from person to person. Clients should typically expect between 1-6 sessions before they see some results. 8 weeks are required between each session. 

Both saline and laser are well-respected methods of removal. Both can be amazingly effective and provide the results you are hoping for. Saline and laser couldn’t be more different so how do you know which method would be best and most effective for you and your particular case? The information listed here will hopefully provide some insight and help you to choose the method of removal that will best suit your needs. Laser works by producing a short pulse of intense light that penetrates deep enough down into the skin, then is absorbed by the pigment. The intense light breaks up the pigment into tiny fragments. The laser pushes the tiny fragments back down, deeper into the body to be removed by the body’s lymph and waste system. Different laser wavelengths target specific colors at specific depths in the skin. It can take several laser wavelengths to remove a multi-colored tattoo. Due to the variables and restrictions of many lasers, it is important to do your research and pick the right laser for the tattoo you want removed. The healing process is about 7 to 10 days. With some lasers, you may experience blisters, if so that could prolong the healing process. Li-FT saline removal works by Osmosis. The high concentration of salt draws the water underneath and surrounding the pigment up to the surface of the skin to be contained and removed by the scab. So, whereas Laser pushes pigment back down into the body to be removed by the lymph and waste system, saline moves the pigment up and out of the skin via the scabbing process. Saline is not color restricted and will remove all colors including white (titanium dioxide). Saline is also not depth specific, meaning it will target and start lifting pigment/ink no matter the depth that it resides. Li-FT Saline solution is implanted into the skin in the same way we implant pigment or ink to do a semi-permanent makeup or body tattoo procedure. We use our tattoo machines, dip our needle into the Li-FT solution and then tattoo it into the area of the unwanted procedure or tattoo. The healing process is about 7 to 10 days. Saline removal does not cause any blistering when aftercare followed correctly. Laser can permanently remove brow hair. Saline will not effect your eyebrow hair at all. Tattooing skin after it has been lasered is often unsuccessful. Saline removal tends not to effect the skin or cause scarring if aftercare followed correctly. Laser cannot be used on the lips. Li-FT saline solution is safe and effective in removing lip and eyeliner tattoos. Both laser and saline are relatively close in cost and require several sessions. Lasers can cover the surface area of a large tattoo much quicker and more efficiently than the Li-FT saline removal technique. Li-FT will take much longer to remove a large tattoo.
